Aug 8 - Arriving at Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming

The drive through Wyoming had some breathtaking views, as we traversed the mountain passes.  The terrain changed, and had valleys with the mountains loaded with lodgepole pine trees, instead of scrubgrass and prairie.  We stopped at one turn out, overlooking a mountain valley.  It was a monument to the men who had built the railroads through these mountainous passes.  At one point, we crossed the Continental Divide, elevation 9584 ft.
We finally arrived at the Grand Teton National Park and made our way to the Coltier Bay campgrounds.  As we were at the entrance kiosk, discussing our group site, and who would coming and when, and, of course, paying, but who should drive up behind us but Robbie and Ann!!!  It was amazing that we both arrived at exactly the same time.  Shanti and Aimee were going to be arriving late, as they had a flat tire on the road, and needed to buy all new tires.  Of course, in order to change the tire, and get to the tire repair, they needed to unpack all of their gear to get the to spare.  They didn't arrive until around 9:30 pm.  Better late than never.
Shanti's camping friends, Lawrence and Ann Jones, and their two girls also joined us in our group site.  We set up camp--Robbie and Ann in their Sprinter camping van, us in our RV, the Jones in their tent, and Shanti & Aimee in their large tent.  We also had two screen tents and a sun shade tent.  It had a large fire pit, surrounded with logs for chairs.  And, the bath house was just down the path.  This was the first time we had dry camped, also called boondocking.  No hookups at all.  We had filled our water tank at the last campsite, so we had water.  But, we took our coffee pot and phones into the bath house, which had an electric outlet.
Robbie, Ann, Peter and I went into the Coltier Bay Village for dinner.  They had a restaurant and a pizza shop. It was a delight being with them again.  Shanti arrived and set up their tent, just as it started to rain.  So, we all said good night and stayed dry inside our respective "homes".
