We did a fairly easy travel today, through more incredible, mountainous Montana. It seems like a movie set with the ranch houses set amongst the mountain valleys, with the cattle roaming, the highway following a stream that cuts through the mountains, the big, blue sky.
I kept singing the chorus to the John Denver song, Oh Montana:
Oh Montana, give this child a home
Give him the love of a good family and a woman of his own
Give him a fire in his heart, give him a light in his eyes
Give him the wild wind for a brother and the wild Montana skies
We are staying tonight at a really nice little State Park, called Beavertail Hill State Park. Only has electric hookup, but that works. We are right along a fast moving stream. We hiked the self-guided nature trail around the park, then worked on our computers, as we have really good reception. By that time, we decided to go out for dinner, and asked the camp host for a place nearby.
We went to another campground, with a family run restaurant, one exit over on I-90. It was a really nice restaurant, with Montana home cooking. Not great for a vegetarian, so I did my fish option. The decor was very ranchy, with stuffed animal heads all around the dining room! Chatted with a couple from Vermont, who just came from the Pacific NW. Nice folks.
