July 23 - Trip to Lake Champlain, VT, with Tamara's family- day 1

We drove the RV up to the Burlington area in Vermont.  Our RV campground was actually in nearby Colchester, just 2 miles from Lake Champlain.  The trip up was all on interstate highways, very straight-forward and easy driving.  I was very impressed with the visitor center/rest areas in Vermont.  They were beautifully landscaped, with very nice architectural buildings.  I also really enjoyed the drive on  I-89 that followed a river valley between two ridges of the Green Mountains.  So the landscape was beautiful, and very green.  Made for an enjoyable drive.

We got to the campgrounds, which were very crowded and loaded with families, kids and cars.  We were on an inner loop, with a playground right behind us.  Since this was a weekend day, kids were playing there until 11pm.  We set up camp, which was very easy.  Then went over to the  hotel where Tamara and family were staying.  They have a suite, with a full kitchen.  So we brought over our dinner, which I had prepared previously and frozen.  We ate and hung out for a while.

On the trip back to the campground, we took the scenic route on Lake Shore Drive, which, surprisingly, went along the Lake.  The drive ended at a little park, where we stopped and watched the sunset.  Since we are on the east side of the lake, looking west, the sunset was quite beautiful.

It felt really nice to be back in the RV "swing of things".

Oh, and just a memory -- on July 23, 1972, Ed & I were married.  So, 49 years ago.  Sweet memory.
