We spent the day around the campground, as we had booked a sunset cruise. Since we needed to be there around 6pm, I cooked dinner in the afternoon, and we ate early. We took a stroll around the fairly large campgrounds. I have never seen so many cabins as there are here. They are, in essence, wooden tents. There are a double bed, two bunk beds, and a bench. Many have air conditioning and a small refrigerator. That's it. Apparently, this is a less expensive option for folks to stay in than a hotel for those going to Cedar Point Amusement park. Hotel rooms around here are 300+ a night and these are 50. And they are all sold out on most holidays and during the summer. Our sunset cruise took us along the shore of Cedar Park, and the size and variety of the roller coasters was amazing. Super high up and then STRAIGHT down. Not for me.
The sunset cruise was nice. It was a beautiful evening, it felt good to get out on the water, and the sunset was colorful. It was a 2 hour cruise, for $10 each. Such a deal. Standing in the bow of the boat, with the wind blowing in my face, I felt a bit like the woman in the movie Titanic. We also chatted with some interesting folks, which is the part Peter really likes.
Interesting history fact--Sandusky was a major site on the underground railroad. See the photo plaque below.
