Sept 7 - Good-bye Shanti & Gabe's Colorado, and on to Rifle Gap State Park, CO

We took I-70 due west.  The road went through lots of high hills, low mountains and high mountain passes.  At one point, the road went through a narrow gap, with the eastern road down low, and the western lanes up on a higher track.  The western road was down to one lane, because the recent rain they had caused a landslide, which covered the lower road.  Both sides were now open, but they were repairing it all.

We stopped outside of Frisco, at a nice little park for lunch and a rest stop.  But the area around the town of Rifle was really nice.  Big mountain ranges, some with flat tops, circled the area.  Everywhere you look, off the interstate, had mountain gorges, gaps and canyons.  Very picturesque.

Our campground at Rifle Gap State Park, was delightful.  One of the nicest maintained spots we have stayed at.  And, it was full hook-up.  It was on a loop that looked out over the Rifle Gap reservoir, which, unfortunately, was very, very low.  But the site was all paved, level, with raked gravel around it, and a covered picnic table.  You had to drive a long ways to get to it, but there were bushes lining the roadways, that were covered with yellow flowers.  Very pretty.  And the view was beautiful.  Too bad it was so hot.  Fortunately, it cooled off as soon as the sun went down.  We even needed to put on the heat overnight, just to take off the chill.  But I like that much better than AC that still doesn't cool the RV enough.

Also, unfortunately, there was absolutely NO cell service or internet.  So we played games.
