It was going to be a really hot day, in the 90's, so we all met up at Chatfield State Park, down by the lake, and had a "day at the beach". Everyone brought lunch, and paddle boards. Tiffany, Tommy and kids also came for the afternoon. The water was really refreshing. We found a secluded spot, in the shade under some trees. Unfortunately, the shade kept moving back, so we brought out our shade umbrellas and made do. The only down-side to our spot, was that you had to walk down a steep hill from the parking lot, to get to it. Carrying down paddle boards, coolers, umbrellas, beach chairs and lunches, towels, etc was a bit of a hot chore. Even worse was carrying them all back up. But, the spot was great, and we had a wonderful time. I even paddled on the paddle board, sitting down, of course, as the part of the lake we were in was not a "no-wake" zone, so there were lots of waves, making it hard to stand on the boards. That didn't stop everyone else.
When everyone left, Robbie, Ann, Peter and I had left over chili and salad for dinner. Nice way to end the wonderful time spent together.
Lots of family-at-the-beach photos:
