Oct 6 - On to Florence, Oregon --Central Coast

Our trip to our current Thousand Trails campground was all along the Oregon coast, on Highway US-101.  It traveled up into the mountains that end right into the ocean, so there were a lot of curvy turns with steep drop offs right into the sea.  Beautiful, as long as I was able to drive slowly.  Fortunately, there are a lot of places to pull over to let faster vehicles pass you by.
We stopped at the Boiler Bay Waypoint, since we passed right by it.  The ocean was really different today.  Much smoother, not a turbulent, the splashes onto the rocks not as high.  Possibly due to the low tide, versus high tide.
We also stopped at the Stone Creek Waypoint, and sat in the RV and had lunch, looking out over the water.
The only other waypoint we stopped at, since we plan to do a day trip back up this highway to the north, was the Haceta Head Lighthouse Viewpoint.  From here, we could look over the beaches, coves, and see the lighthouse off in the distance, at the end of the rocky outcropping.
This coast is absolutely amazing !!  The entire distance has fascinating, beautiful beach scenes.
After we got set up at this campsite, I had my weekly family Hangouts call, and was interviewed by Shilah, for a school project.  Since it was still nice and sunny out, and Peter was needing to work on his computer, I drove down the road that our campground is on to the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area.  The road went for 5 miles with the high dunes between the road and the ocean.  There were 7 different parking areas, each with a sandy path up over the dunes, onto the beach.  There was also an area that dune buggies and dune cycles were racing up and down the very tall dunes.  I parked the car and walked out to the end of the penisula.  Sand for miles!
