We drove back out to the Cape Arago State Park overlook for a picnic lunch, and hiked out to the seal overlook. Today, there was no wind and delightful sun. The seals were going wild, with their barking and growls. There are several types of seals and sea lions. We stopped at the nearby Simpson Reef overlook that was closer to the seals rocky outcroppings and watched them cavort in the water and bask in the sun.
Our next stop was the Shore Acres State Park and that magnificent overlook again. We walked the trail along the ocean cliff top and marveled at the formations in the rocks. These looked like swirling sand formations, but were really hard rock. This was a great State Park.
We stopped for a few minutes at the Bastendorff Beach County Park-nice shoreline. We decided to drive South on Hwy 101, and see the attractions up to the town of Bandon. The GPS took us up and over a mountain pass, that curved up and down, but had a great vista where you could see the mountains for miles. Breathtaking. However, I was glad I was driving the car and not the RV.
We stopped at the Bullards Beach State Park with the Coquille River Lighthouse. The beach was surrounded with dune hillocks. The lighthouse was an old one, that was built for the Coquille River entrance to the ocean. Nice jutty that we walked out on.
We found a coffee shop/restaurant in the Bandon old town marina area. We sat there for a few hours, drinking coffee and working on the internet. Then had dinner there. After, we walked around the marina and watched the sun set. Very nice full moon.
