We spent the morning hanging out and catching up--electronically. Then drove the 1/2 hour over to Georgette's. She is living at her brother's lavender farm, in Ferndale, WA. It is a 5 acre farm, with rows and rows of many various varieties of lavender. For several years, they harvested the lavender, and made a large variety of products from them. Georgette would sell them at the Bellingham Market each weekend. This summer, they decided to take a break. We arrived when there was still one variety blooming purple. They all smelled great--dried and blooming both.
Georgette has an RV trailer that she stays in during the warm weather. It's a larger version of our RV. She spends a lot of time caring for her 3 cows and 2 dogs. She is also caretaking a friends house and working in that friend's business office, part time. She seems to be doing well.
We went to the boardwalk in Bellingham, and walked along the Puget Sound. The weather was perfect. Then we went to Whitcom Falls Park, a local park that had a water falls, and walked that path. Finally, we went for dinner at a very nice restaurant with an outdoor patio overlooking the Sound.
On the way back to the RV camp, we stopped, just in time, at Birch Bay to watch the sunset. So far, all of the sunsets over the Puget Sound have been spectacular. Very nice day.
