Sept 13 - Staircase, Olympic National Park, Washington

We hung around for the morning, doing morning stuff.  It turns out the beautiful site we are at has a faulty electric outlet, so it kept turning on and off the electric.  They couldn't figure out the problem, and now it just stays off, generally.  So we are currently running the generator for a while, to charge up the batteries.  We could move sites, but it is a pain to break down and reset up, for just 2 more days.
We drove up to Staircase, an Olympic National Park campground and trails.  This is on the east side of the Park.  Mountains, with trails along the river, through old growth temperate rain forest.  Very nice.  We hiked the 2 mile Rapids loop, which went along the stream, then crossed over it on a neat suspension bridge, and looped back.
The gravel road into the Park ran along side of Lake Cushman, a 12 mile long glacial lake, surrounded by tree covered mountains.  We stopped for a quick view of the lake.  Also, the road went past a wonderfully sounding waterfall.  Right at the side of the road.  How delightful.
Peter isn't feeling well, again, so we walked slowly.  He is without energy, and has no appetite.  Hope he feels better soon.  I went on the nature walk at our campground, and found this neat staircase along the way.  See photo below.
