Oct 7 - on to Albuquerque, NM

We got an early start, and drove to our RV campground outside of Albuquerque, NM.  The drive there went through a changing landscape, again.  We must have been on a higher plateau, as there were lots more actual trees, instead of small prairie bushes.  I think there is a high plateau, with a huge flat prairie on one side, and then it drops off with a cliff on the other side, down to another huge, flat, prairie plateau.  Then, it actually drops down again.  From the bottom, you can look up and see the different levels, with the cliffs with all their layers, with their flat tops.   And, many times behind all of that, you can even see even bigger mountain ranges.  Impressive.  Anyways, the prairies along this route were huge, to the horizon, and there was even grass between the shrubs, as opposed to just red dirt.  But, still no cattle or houses.

It turns out this campground is right behind the Laguna tribe Rt 66 Casino. It was very large, very well designed, very clean and overlooked a huge pairie.  We set up, and I then drove to the nearby Whole Foods in Albuquerque.  Finally able to stock up with items we usually eat.  It was sort of late by the time I got back and put away all of the groceries.  So, we decided to "hit the Casino", which touted 5 restaurants.  However, when we got there, only one restaurant was open, and we needed to wait 45 minutes.  Ok, so we'd play the slots and blackjack.  We tired of both of those after about 10 minutes, and just hung out for the rest of the time, waiting for the sports bar restaurant to text us that our table was ready.  We quickly realized why we don't like Casinos.  Noisy, all the senses get overwhelmed, and you can only loose money.  Pizza and salad were pretty good.

It being Oct 7th, was Ed Pless's birthday.  Nice memories and texts from the kids, remembering him.

Some Ed as I remember him photos:
