Another 5 hour trip, with stops, to this next RV camp in Bridgeport. TX. This is actually one of our Thousand Trails membership parks (TT), so we stay here for "free". It is located on Lake Bridgeport. However, we realize after staying in so many non-Thousand Trail RV parks on this trip, that the quality of the TT parks are really not as nice as many of the private parks. Many of the TT parks were built in the 60's and 70's, when RVing started to become popular. And, the required maintenance hasn't really been kept up. Also, the TT parks are mostly along the west coast, south coast, and east coasts, but not throughout the center of the country. So, as we continue to explore and travel to other areas, we are starting to question whether we need to stay members of TT, and pay the annual dues. Up to this point, we have definitely made back our original purchase price and all of the annual dues, by staying for free at their parks. Now, if we choose, we can sell the membership to someone else. We'll see.
There were several things I noticed on the trip here. The fields are now more like pastures, with green grasses everywhere, no red dirt. And there are farm fields, and cattle. More wind turbines. And more fields of cotton. Also, it is more rolling hills than flat prairies. And trees. And, it is more humid here.
This park is about 1 and 1/2 hours from Dallas, where Peter's son, William, lives. We plan to stay over at William's tonight, and babysit for River, their child, tomorrow. Fun. It is supposed to rain, on and off, all day today and tomorrow. I hope our roof doesn't leak while we are gone. Towels on the floor.
We took a nice long walk around the park, down by the lake. This park is quite large, with different sections, including lots of cabins for rent. I also did the laundry.
