Day 14 - Jan 22 - Hilton Head Island, SC

We spent the day on Hilton Head Island, SC.  Not exactly my cup of tea kind-of-place.  It is mostly a tourist/high rent district resort/condo/fancy homes fully developed island.  But, we had a good day.
We started at Coligny Beach.  Beautiful miles of white sand beaches.  This area has plazas with shops and hotels along it.  The beach was really nice, but the weather today was sunny, in the 50's, but the wind was intense and very COLD.  So we couldn't spend much time hanging out at the beach.
Next we toured the gated developed "plantation", covering 1/6th of the island.  It's on a big peninsula, and we went to South Beach Marina and Harbour Town light house.  Supposedly a big attraction for the area, but I was very disappointed.
Then, we went to the Fort Mitchell ruins, located on Hilton Head Plantation (another gated community).  Nice walking paths by the ocean.
Finally, we ended up at the Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge.  This I could enjoy.  We did a mile walk along a wonderful nature trail, overlooking the marshes.
