Day 12 - Jan 20 - back into Charleston,SC

This morning we went back into Charleston, SC and went to the Unitarian Church.  It was a very large congregation, all white, educated, liberal-types.  They have a big sign  hanging outside that says "Love is Love, Black Lives Matter, Climate Change is Real, No Human Being is Illegal, Women's Rights Are Human Rights, All Genders Are Whole, Holy, & Good."  I thought that boldly proclaims their beliefs.  We met some very interesting folks.
Then we went to the Charleston Museum.  Read/saw/explored the history of Charleston, again, through the Revolutionary War and Civil War.  Saw some interesting videos of the importance of the rice industry and the cotton industry--both requiring slave labor to be profitable.  But the museum also had a natural history section, with some bones from animals I'd never heard of before.  And some of them were huge--dinosaur size.
On the walk back at the car, we found the artists market.  Nice stuff.  Gullah is the language developed by the various enslaved populations, that came from different parts of Africa, and they needed to speak to each other and the Masters.  It combines in English, so is a sort of Pidgin English.  There became a whole culture now called the Gullah culture, also known for their basket-weaving.
Made it "home" in time to make dinner, and get on the Sunday evening Hangouts call.  I do miss the family.
