Apr 8 - on to Lake Gaston in Littleton, NC

We drove over to Lake Gaston, in Littleton, NC.  This is a 32 mile long lake, and the Thousand Trails campground is located right on the lake.  They have a nice little beach, marina, and shady, wooded sites.  The challenge for today was that most of the sites are NOT level.  As a matter of fact, the 3 sites we tried were so out of level, that we didn't have enough leveling blocks to get the RV level.  If we aren't level, the refrigerator won't work, and the slide-outs won't slide, and the RV rocks and rolls, or you feel like you are walking downhill.  The fourth one we tried, is actually a full hook-up, rather than one with just electric and water.  It also has sewer, which if you are staying for several days, is a big help.  However, this one is still so out of level, that it took 8 courses of blocks, two of which we used short boards, borrowed from a neighboring site.  We still couldn't put out the dinette slide.  Tomorrow, we will go into a Walmart Super/Store and purchase yet another set of leveling blocks.  I was NOT pleased with this Thousand Trails campground.  You would think with all of the RV's, they would make sure they offered level sites.
On the plus side, the lake is beautiful, and we even met some RV neighbors from Ann Arbor, MI.
