Mar 19 - Find a place that has internet!

Morning was for doing the laundry.  This campground has a nice little laundromat-but with only 2 washers and dryers, so my three loads took awhile.  Peter went up to the Clubhouse, seeking a better internet reception, but ended up just reading for the morning.
After lunch, we ventured into the LITTLE town of Arley, AL, which is the closest to the RV campgrounds.  We both need haircuts, and were given a recommendation of a salon in Arley.  We stopped in, but ended up making an appointment for Thursday.  Then, we drove the block over to the Arley Public Library, which has very good internet access.  We have been camped out here for the afternoon.
Impressions of this area of Alabama:

  • Very hilly--even mountainous, with lots of curvey roads, up and down.  Lots of valleys, and lots of rivers and lakes, all generally populated with nice lakeside housing.  Very pretty.  I was surprised.
  • There are also lots of very large pastures, dotted with cows.  There are lots of wonderful views of these large pasture, usually from a ridge top.   Very pastoral settings.
  • Springtime flowers abound, however, New England seems to landscape much more with flowers and flowering trees & shrubs than anywhere else I've seen so far.
  • It is interesting being in the RV without the internet--no facebook, no email, no blogging, no looking up interesting facts, no determining where we will be heading next, etc.  Just reading on our Kindles, and watching DVD's from the RV office shelf.  Oh, and walking around the campground by the lake.  Discovered a beautiful lake observation deck.  Will photo it later.
Arley Library --thank you for the internet!
