Mar 13 - Clarkco State Park, Quitman, Mississippi

We drove north into Mississippi, on our way to Alabama, to visit with William, Peter's son.  We are at Clarkco State Park, which is a beautiful park, with our RV site right on the lake.  The Mississippi countryside is very different than the Low Country, SC, Florida, and the panhandle.  We have spent the last two months in swampy, boggy, low country, or along the Gulf coast.  This reminds me more of New England--rolling hills, large pastures with cows and horses, lots of pine and deciduous trees--but warm and humid.
We set up the RV site, and immediately went to explore the park, taking a 2 mile walk around the lake.  Then, we just hung out--me sitting outside, along the water, Peter inside on his computer.  We had some folks walk over to us, greeting us as fellow BayStaters.  They are from the Cape, and were just spending the night.  After dinner, as we sat by the lake at sunset, the next door RVers came over and chatted for 1/2 hr.  We definitely observed the friendly, welcoming atmosphere here.
Today's lesson:  when getting ready to leave an RV site, unplug the electric BEFORE moving the RV forward, to remove the chocks under the wheels.  Otherwise, as we learned, the electric unplugs itself.  Fortunately, not a problem, but it could be.  Add it to the checklist!
