June 2020 Day trips - in Massachusetts

Since the late azaleas and the rhododendrons were in bloom, we decided to go out for a socially distanced hike at the Moore State Park in Paxton, MA.  This is an old estate where the owner planted thousands of azaleas and rhododendrons all over his estate.  They are now huge bushes lining the trails and throughout the woods, and along the small lake.   It is a joy to hike there.  About 1-1/2 mile round trip.

On another day, we decided to hike the trail at Buffamville Lake Park, in Charlton, MA, the site of an Army Corp of Engineer's Dam and subsequent building of two lakes, for flood control.  You can hike around both lakes on very nice trails.  We picked one that went on the east side of one lake, ending up at the beach area.  Since the park is closed for recreation other than hiking and fishing, we didn't see anyone else.  Another great hike, about 2 miles round trip.
