We again spent the morning at the RV, on the computers. Had lunch, then headed out to the Provincetown area. The actual town is VERY touristy, too many people walking about, and not really my cup of tea. This is the kind of place that if you saw it once (and I did about 23 years ago, with Orion), you really don't need to see it again. However, we continued on to the very tip of the Cape Cod peninsula to Race Point Beach. We had to walk a bit to get to a less crowded section of the beach. And, we were told that if you walked another 2 miles down the beach, you would get to the lighthouse. Needless to say, we didn't. There are actually two lighthouses on the tip, both accessible by boat only--no roads. One of them was the lighthouse we saw yesterday from Highland Lighthouse, on the horizon.
Today is cloudy on the beach, and rather cool. After sitting for awhile, it started to sprinkle, and we decided it didn't look like it was going to clear up any time soon, so we packed up and left (along with most of the others on the beach). But, it was only sprinkling, so we drove along the western coast of the Provincetown peninsula, overlooking Cape Cod bay to the Herring Cove beach area. This was a little more rugged a beach, with no one there, due to the rain.
We decided it was time to head back to the RV, since the rain wasn't very inviting. So we went back over to US-6, the main road down the peninsula. However, it was totally backed up, and after driving at 10 mph, we decided to head over to the Wellfleet marina for a bit, and see if the traffic would clear. Also, the sky was clearing up too. The marina area seems like it would be a cute artsy area, if Covid wasn't in place.
Back to US-6 and the RV. By the time we got back, the sun was shinning and the sky blue. Go figure.
