Jan 31 - Dana Point Whale Watch cruise

We all gathered at Robbie's for breakfast, then drove down to Dana Point to Captain Dave's Whale Watch cruise.  This is a pontoon boat, and it was a beautiful, sunny, warm day.  It was a bit chilly in the wind, especially out on the front of the boat, where we sat for most of the trip.  We saw several pods of dolphins--two types.  They were very friendly, and swam and cavorted around the boat for a long time.  They were really neat.  We did see two grey whales -- a female with her baby.  The grey whales are migrating, but they are somewhat shy, so we only saw them from a distance.  They are not as amazing as our eastern humpbacks, who usually blow out their spouts and dive and flip.  It was a nice 2.5 hour boat cruise.
That evening, we started putting together a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle that Lois bought for Lou's birthday.  It is the front page of the New York Times for Jan 24, 1945.  It took us all week to finally finish it, but we did it!  It was sort of addicting, trying to find THAT piece.
