Nov 4 - 6, 2022 - Trip to Denver, Colorado

Nov 4th - we flew for the first time since Covid hit in 2020.  It went fairly smoothly, although we were some of the few people wearing masks, in the airport and on the plane.  You know the flight is going to be a bit bumpy when they delay the beverage cart for a few hours.  It eventually evened out.  We had a bit of difficulty getting our rental car.  We used a new company, and they did NOT have their act together.  We got the keys, and they just said "go find you car in the lot - we have no idea where it is located.  Just click the beeper and see if you can find it".  Ha.  With help, we finally did, only to turn on the car and have the "check engine" light turn on with a message to have the car checked.  Great.  Then we got another car, but it was NOT an AWD, which we had asked for.  So, finally, they gave us a BMW, AWD, SUV.

We did end up meeting up with Shanti & Gabe's family for dinner at a vegan restaurant in Denver.  Then went up to Shanti's house for the evening, where we were staying.

Nov 5th - Serena had an early morning soccer game, even though it had snowed a bit, and was in the 30's.  But, Shanti, Aimee and I went to watch the game.  There was a beautiful, early morning sunrise, that I photo'd, when Aimee and I stopped in at her Jazzercise studio first.  Fun, but cold.

Then, Gabe and family came up to Shanti's for lunch.  By then, the sun was shining and it was a LITTLE warmer.  After lunch, Shanti, Gabe, Lily, Peter & I went for a hike on one of the Staunton State Park trails.  Nice mountains and valleys.  Gabe did really well, walking with his cane.  Just hung out with Shanti's family for the evening.

Nov 6th - We met up with Gabe, Emory  & Lily again for a walk around Lion's Park in Golden, CO.  There is a nice trail along Clear Creek stream.  Then we took the scenic drive up Lookout Mountain, which gave an amazing view of Golden, the mountain range, and downtown Denver, in the distance.  We ended up at the Lookout Mtn Nature Center and the Buffalo Bill museum and Grave.  Again, amazing views.

That afternoon, we went to watch Shilah perform a Halloween dance recital.  Her costume was really amazing --horns, red eyes, a lots of makeup.  I had a hard time telling it was her.  Great job dancing, though.  Dinner up at Shanti's -- Aimee is a GREAT cook, and is willing to cook for all of us.
