Then we reached Ohio. I didn't realize that Ohio had so much back country, and so many churches! And, lots of big, rolling hills. Joy lives outside of the small town of Zaleski, Ohio. Actually, calling it a town may be overstating it a bit. They do have two stop signs. The last roads leading to their town were very up and down back country roads. Pretty. But I stopped as we turned onto one of them, and saw the road go straight up. I called Peter in the car behind me to ask if he thought we could make it up the hill. He said, probably, that's why we have a Mercedes engine. And we did. Just zoomed right up it.
Joy's daughter, Rebecca and family, live just down the road from her. They let us park the RV in the parking lot for the event facility they have behind their house, since the lot is relatively flat. Whereas, Joy's driveway to her house is rather uphill. The view from Joy's house looks out over the valley, and is delightful.
Rebecca and her husband, Tim, built a lovely event center on their property. Originally, it was built to have a place for their son to get married. But it has now turned into a center that others can rent for their weddings. A lot of work and it shows! Rebecca gave me a tour and we had a really nice chat.
We spent a few hours with Joy, chatting. She had just returned from having tooth surgery, so wasn't up for a long evening. But it was great to catch up. She lives alone, in a cute small house, surrounded by woods, overlooking the valley. She has created beautiful gardens, has lots of birds, and a sweet dog and a shy cat. We were so pleased to have had the opportunity to visit.
