Mar 16 - Travel to Rockport, Texas

The trip over to Rockport, Texas was pretty easy, for the most part.  Until we hit the Corpus Christi area, and the strong, gusting winds reappeared.  At 55 mph, I still needed to do battle with the steering wheel.  Oh, did I mention, we bought gas for $1.95/gallon.  I haven't seen gas under $2/gal in years.  Our RV park is on a pennisula, surrounded by three Bays:  Copano Bay, Aransas Bay and Corpus Christi Bay.  On the other side of the Bays is a very long barrier island, with several names:  Padres Island, Mustang Island, San Jose Island, and Matagorda Island.  We plan to visit those while we are here.
Our campground is large, and there are two ponds in the center.  We walked around the campgrounds and over to the ponds.  One of the two ponds had scores of white egrets, ducks, and a great blue heron.  I had a beer sitting outside (the weather is now a balmy 74 degrees with a mild wind), made dinner, and am now updating the blog.
