Our biggest challenge was deciding to go 20 miles on the Lake Ontario State Parkway, to get to the State Park. The RV Trip Wizard we use to plan the trip said to take I-90 to a different highway further west, then straight north to the park. Our RV truck GPS and the car's GPS said to go north to the Parkway, and then over to the park. The Parkway goes right along the lake front, and is very scenic. Additionally, New York does not allow RVs on their Parkways. However, we were told online that this is not a Parkway, but a Byway, and the only restrictions are for trucks and commercial vehicles. So, we went scenic. Then, we encountered 4 separate beautiful, curved bridges, over the Parkway. Each with signs saying "left lane clearance is 11 ft 8 in, right lane clearance is 11 ft 2 in", or some variation. Since my RV is 11 ft 6 in, with the antennae, I needed to slow to almost zero, and go under the very center of the bridge. Quite nerve wracking!
We arrived for a late lunch. Set up camp. Then went out exploring the Park and getting over to the water. We did a 3 mile hike along the lake--by the beaches, rocks, and through the woods trails, It was quite warm, so we hung for a bit on the rocks, by the water, in the shade. We were wiped out by the time we got back to the campsite, so we enjoyed a beer, sitting outside, and then went out for dinner in the little town of Hamlin.
