May 4 - Berea, KY

It poured rain last night, and the ground all around the gravel pads this morning was puddles of standing water.  We spent the morning on the computers--Peter doing his usual blogging, and I listened to some more AI Podcasts.  They were very interesting.
In the afternoon, we drove into the town area of Berea.  It is a small college town, very pretty.  Too bad all of the shops, artist areas, and college areas were closed.  Berea College was the first southern college to allow Negroes and women in as students, as early as 1855.  They were forced to segregate in 1904, and it wasn't until the 1950's that they integrated again.  The college does not charge anything for tuition.  All students enroll for free.  They have a very large endowment, and the campus is beautiful.
We drove out to the nearby Owsley Fort Reservoir.  The farm land around the rural houses was very pastoral and picturesque.  The fields were all abloom with yellow flowers.  We even passed one meadow with llamas in it.  The mountainous areas around the reservoir were all heavily forested, with only deciduous trees--no pines.   We drove around two sides of the reservoir.  It was a nice drive that allowed us to get out of the RV and into nature a bit.
This is definitely not one of our better campgrounds.  It is a challenge to have only water and electric.  No showers, since  we don't want to use the campground's showers (which we used to do when we didn't have sewer).   We could drive over to the dump station, but that is a pain.  If we had a portable tank, we could empty the grey tank into it, and roll it over to the dump station.   We would get one if we stayed more often at places with no sewer, and the Corona virus issues continue.  Oh well, we are leaving in the morning.
