Got out for another walk this afternoon, and are going to stop by the campground's Friday evening campfire tonight. Not quite so hot today, or maybe not so humid. Still sort of moving slowly.

Feb 22 - another home day
Started the morning with a hike around the property again, through the campgrounds and along the Peace River. About a mile loop. Spent most of the day on tax returns, learning more of the tax software. Some RV neighbors came to visit for awhile. They also have a Tiffin RV, but a 35 foot class A. They have been RVing for years, so were able to share some Tips with us. Nice to have friendly neighbors.

Feb 21 --day of rest and blogging
We stayed in camp for the day. Peter blogging. I started working on preparing tax returns. Took a bit to figure out the new tax software I bought, and to use the new DropBox system. Both seem to be working OK.
We hiked around the campgrounds, along the Peace River. I did laundry in town. It was really hot and humid, so I sort of "melted". Spent time playing/floating/exercising in the pool. Lots of people and kids, so you couldn't actually swim laps. But it felt good. Actually turned on the air conditioner in the RV --thank goodness we have it!
Made a late dinner and watched the movie "An Unfinished Life" with Robert Redford, Morgan Freeman, and Jennifer Lopez. In Orlando yesterday, we bought another Verizon hotspot, which gives us more WiFi capacity without slowing down. Makes a huge difference, and allows us to watch movies in the RV on Netflix or Amazon Prime.

Feb 20 - Orlando visit
Today we left early and took the 2 1/2 hour trip into Orlando to have lunch with our ex-client, Daryl. He's the one who let us keep the RV on his ranch while we were on Anna Maria island. He's been out of the country, and just returned, so we weren't able to meet with him when we were in Orlando last week. Great lunch at Fresh Kitchen--a sort of healthy fast food franchise. Buffet style, but with really healthy choices.
After lunch we took the opportunity to do some shopping at stores only found in a big city. That put us back on the road at rush hour, which lasts a long time in the Orlando area. Ate dinner out, as we were too pooped to cook, as it was so late. I am finding that my maximum driving time is around 2 hours without stopping.

Feb 19 - return to Wauchula, FL
Left MaryAnn's and went shopping again at Trader Joe's and Whole Foods in Naples, FL. Need to plan my shopping trips around where these shops are located. You just can't find seitan and whole wheat English muffins etc at most regular grocery stores.
Stopped for a picnic lunch at a nature center in Fort Myers, then arrived "home" - back at the RV in Wauchula. Very hot and humid. New England winter Almost sounded good. Went for a swim in the pool - very refreshing. Made dinner, wrote some bills, figured out our schedule for tomorrow. Tried to watch a movie, but 1) we couldn't figure out how to work the bedroom TV, and 2) we couldn't get Netflix to download a movie appropriately. Ended up putting a trip to Verizon on our schedule for tomorrow, and decided to spend the rest of the evening reading.

Feb 18 - Owen's 2nd birthday, and Ten thousand island boat cruise
Happy 2nd birthday to Owen! Sad to miss his birthday.
Today we stopped at Collier Seminole State Park on our way down to Everglades City. Nice little boardwalk loop through a very dense mangrove swamp/forest.
Did a boat cruise of the Ten Thousand islands in the Gulf of Mexico. The son and his father, who did the tour, were a 6th generation Everglade family. Very knowledgeable about the area and very interesting. The islands are all mangrove islands, some of which had soil on them. All of the islands are now part of the National park or owned by the State. But their family used to live on two of them. We stopped and walked to the old cemetery where their family are buried. We saw dolphins swimming nearby. The day was hot and sunny with a delightful wind blowing, so it was a great day to be out on the water.
For dinner we went over to Ellen and her son Miguel's house. Ellen is Mary Ann's daughter and Peter's cousin. Nice evening.

Feb 17 - Naples Botanical Gardens
We went to the Unitarian Church with Mary Ann this morning. Large group of mostly over 55 folks. But, that is the main Naples population.
Then we went over to the Naples Botanical Gardens. Beautifully done! Nice combinations of lakes, ponds, themed gardens, walkways and temporary exhibits. Today they had glass sculptures located throughout the gardens. Very nice walks, and very nice way to spend an afternoon.

Feb 16 - Sanibal Island and Ann Marie's house
We drove to the Sanibel Island National Wildlife Refuge today. We did a guided tour with a Park Volunteer naturalist. She took us on a boardwalk tour and told us a lot about the wildlife and plants. We learned a lot about the stuff we whave been seeing in our swamp walks recently that we didn't know. LikeLthe three different type of mangrove trees and the cabbage palms. It was very interesting.
We then did the 4 mile drive through the park, stopping at all of the neat sites and hikes, including the observation tower. Saw lots of really cool birds. Hung out for a bit at one of the points overlooking the sound. Very nice.
We then drove to Naples, to Peter's cousin's house (Mary Ann's), where we will be staying for a few days. She made us a yummy dinner and we chatted away the evening.
