We drove over to Tom & Terri Burns' house near Raleigh, NC, and spent the day and had an overnight with them. Tom is a high school buddy of Peter's, and they have stayed in touch, on and off, over all these years. They live in a very large, old house, that is full of antiques and various "collections". He has a very large tea pot collection, and various china collections, along with the stemware and crystal inherited from various relatives. He also used to have an antique shop, so still has a bunch of leftovers from the shop. For example, he has a Singer treadle sewing machine. I can remember Mom sewing on her Singer treadle machine --brings back, memories. Tom is a self-published author of a mystery series--he is working on his 4th book. He chooses some interesting topics to address in his novels, and it was very enlightening hearing about how a writer develops the story line, and the addresses the various issues involved in writing a novel.
It was a very pleasant visit.
